200 books on your Kindle, or 7,500?

One of the posts on Amazon.com from the Kindle support team states that 4gb is the largest SD card the Kindle can use. But this ad is for an 8gb card. Can the Kindle really use all 8gb? Do you partition the card? Thanks!
